3-30-23 Forney Bus Tour

The Forney Field Trip bus tour on March 30th was a hit.  Lynn Spencer, the Director of the Forney Economic Development Corporation, took a group of businesses on an around town tour.  Meg Adams, Director of the Forney Chamber of Commerce, assisted with organizing the tour, while Ryan Kile, of Kile Properties, sponsored breakfast for all who attended.  We departed downtown Forney and took a trip past the new location for Forney Brewing, The Cotton Gin, where Forney Flavors events will take place, and Beauty on Broad.

We were welcomed at Spa Lotus with a tour of their beautiful spa by Krista Gomez, the owner.  She has been in business for one year and is looking forward to the new growth in Forney.  To view their services, please visit spalotusbeautybar.com.

We departed the spa and ended up at Nav Central, located on Highway 80.  Nicholas Robbins, Director of Business Development, took us on a tour of the 36,000 square foot building.  Nav Central is a healthcare management company, managing multiple healthcare companies around the country, as well as emergency ambulances.  When Nav Central is completed, they expect to be employing 250-300 people.  Upon our departure from Nav Central, Lynn explained the plans for the Town Place by Marriot, which will be next door to Nav Central and share parking that the EDC incentivized.  For more information about Nav Central, please visit www.nav-central.com.

We continued on our tour with a drive by of Smurfit Kappa and Amazon, both powerhouses in the manufacturing and warehouse industries, offering a plethora of employment opportunities.  We circled back on Highway 80 to the Victory Group property where Kohl’s will be located and Trailhouse Park, both located on the north side of highway 80 by Kroger.  Once completed, both projects will offer entertainment, eateries and shopping.

We trekked on to Forney ISD’s Keith Bell Opportunity Central, where career and technical programs will be offered.  Known as the OC, students will be able to take classes and work at local businesses partnered with the ISD in the integrated facility.  Parts of the facility will be open to the public and college classes will be offered by Texas Tech, Dallas College and TVCC.  Forney ISD students will be able to attend in the 2023-2024 school year, starting in August, while the rest of the facility will be open to the public in early 2024.  For more information about the OC, please visit theoc.net.

Our last stop was to Exeter off of Highway 80 and Clements Dr.  The brand new facility boasts three buildings.  Building two alone is 529,000 square feet with an almost 4,000 square foot open floor office plan.  Exeter has designed the buildings with the trucking industry in mind.  It has easy access on and off Highway 80 to keep the feeder roads clear.  It has 145 trailer parking spaces, four drive in ramped doors and more.  For more information, please contact Ryan at ryan.crabtree@eqtexeter.com.
